doesn´t default to tty7 on boot up and X does not restart

Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg

On my new feisty install, when computer boots, the system defaults to the text that would show if the bootup was verbose and not hidden.

If I switch to tty7 gdm is there- this is similar to this bug: 46084.

In addition, if I control-alt-backspace the x server must be started with startx and does not do so automatically.

As in bug #46084, I would suggest you include your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file as an attachment. Doing a 'lspci -vv > lspci.txt' in a console (this is two v, not w), and including the lspci.txt file as an attachment too, would be very usefull.

Ah, a C51 chipset (like GeForce 6150). Probably similar to:
