Version: Feisty Fawn 7.04 Alternative CD i386
Mainboard: AsRock K7S41 (Chips: SIS 741; SIS 963L)
CD-ROM: old Philips burner CDRW1600
or

Mainboard: Asus AV8 (Chips: VIA K8T800 Pro + VIA VT8237)
CD-ROM: new BENQ CD/DVD-burner

Text-Installation crashes after choose of keyboard-layout and hardware-detection with error: "Your installation CD-ROM couldn't be mounted." The CD-media is checked an works on other hardware.

Today I tested the same boot media at the PC of my brother. Same problem with ASUS AV8 Mainboard (Chipset: VIA K8T800 Pro + VIA VT8237)... later I'll test it with an othter testsystem

Next test! This time with a notebook. With this configuration the detection of the cd works...

Today I searched for other bugs again and it seems that #76598 is the same. But it confuses me a little that it occures with the new beta...

Judging from the fact that mount returns EINVAL, this is a kernel bug. Could you run 'lspci -v' and 'lspci -n' and post the segments corresponding to the controller driving your CD drive? You should be able to match them up by number.

Given the two quite different IDE controller setups on the two machines, I suspect that this may be marginal media. Can you try burning a new CD at a lower speed setting?

Problem solved! The cd was corrupted while burning... Sorry for any trouble!
