Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg-dev

Just like Windows 98 and the former Ubuntu versions I had tried to use, Feisty still doesn't automatically support my 3D Blaster Savage 4, which came with and older (about 2002) Athlon Computer. Because I am using this computer as an office computer, it really annoyes me that there is no way to set the rate above 60Hz, so basically I can't work for more than an hour on this Computer, although all the tasks I need it for, could be done under Ubuntu.

I tried to find out more in different forums, but there seems to be a lot of different Savage Graphic chips and then I am not that much of a Pro to fix it myself,

LG,
Andreas

Please attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log, /etc/X11/xorg.conf and the output of 'sudo lspci -vvnn',

There is a change the savage driver works with it. You could try editing the xorg.conf and change the Driver in "Device" section to "savage".

There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.04). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 97296, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Hi kranebitt,

This bug was reported against an earlier version of Ubuntu, can you
test if it still occurs on Lucid?

Please note we also provide technical support for older versions of
Ubuntu, but not in the bug tracker. Instead, to raise the issue through
normal support channels, please see:
