I can verify this bug. See my bug report I had opened on the MySQL site:

http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=25317

They claim to have fixed this in their repository.

I think this is the changeset of the fix by the MySQL developer:

This is from a google cache because the site itself seems to be having problems at the moment.

Also, Attaching a backtrace.

FYI: This happens to me 5 to 10 times per day. It is predictable enough that I can work around it and not lose any work, but it really hurts productivity. :)

I applied the above patch to the ubuntu package source but it still exhibited the problem. I should try this on the source from MySQL SVN.
