Bug Description
The package depends specifically on python 2.6 although it includes support for python 2.7 too. I already have python 2.7 installed and don't need 2.6, except for mod_wsgi.
I suggest this package requires either 2.6 or 2.7 to be installed, instead of a specific version. If it can only be made to depend on a specific version, I suggest it depends on 2.7, as it is the latest version on the 2.x line.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
This is certainly the case in Ubuntu 12.04 (which no longer has python 2.6)
In 11.10 and earlier support both 2.6 and 2.7 - by default you should get whatever version of python is default for the release you are using through the 'python' package but you will always get libpython2.6 and libpython2.7 installed pre-12.04.
This is not a change we would push through SRU's as it will change the behaviour of this package (and effectively is fixed in 12.04).
Thanks.
