GAIM fails to connect to Gtalk

Bug Description
Binary package hint: gaim
Kubuntu Fiesty, AMD64.
I installed GAIM becuase I prefer it to kopete.
Kopete can connect to gtalk fine.
Version of Gaim is beta6, ubuntu2
When I try to connect to gtalk, I get the follow error GUI:
"Server requires TLS/SSL for login. No TLS/SSL support found."
I am using the following settings:
protocol: Jabber
screen name: nosrednaekim
server: gmail.com
resource: GAIM
Connect port: 5222
Connect server: talk.google.com
The above settings work fine in Edgy
gaim -d puts out the following relevant output :
