I'm marking this bug Won't fix. Unique random identifier suits our requirements regarding the trust we can put in a LP OpenID.

I opened bug 211784 about sending the launchpad nickname using the sreg to all RP. This should solve the problem on RP supporting that part of the protocol.

RP coded using OpenID best practice should also allow you to customize your accounts on their site, (and thus allow you to choose a local nickname). For other purpose, OpenID delegation is always a work-around.
