Bug Description

When i tried 6.10 Edgy (and 6.06 LTS) after installing on my ThinkPad 600x i've got the console! and no way to startx.

on the 6.06 LTS i could start gnome manually

on 6.10 Edgy Beta i had to REINSTALL xorg, gnome completely (found, that they just were not installed (may be some files only)). When i typed startx - i got an error. Used aptitude. And dpkg. Now all is working. But reinstalling distro repeated the bug!!!

But messed a lot...

PS. Installation was made from alternate version in text mode, no additional options.

Are you sure you didn't just select "server install" or "command-line install"?

If not, please attach /var/log/installer/syslog to this bug.
