postgresql depands on postgresql-7.4, which considers itself obsolete

Bug Description

Binary package hint: postgresql

Versions a

Package postgresql-7.5.16.1 depends on postgresql-7.4.

When I install postgresql-7.4-7.4.12-3, I get the the message:

Configuring postgresql-common

Obsolete major version 7.4

The PostgreSQL version 7.4 is obsolete, ...

etc, etc

postgresql is a transitional package to faciliate upgrades from Hoary. Since Hoary came with 7.4, it needs to depend on postgresql-7.4 to provide a clean upgrade.

Hmmm, there are packages depending on it, like sope4.4-gdl1-postgresql. Is
it reasonable for dapper packages to depend on postgresql? Should a bug
report be filed for these?

Yes, please file bugs about them. It's wrong for a client-side package to Depend/Recommend a PostgreSQL server in the first place (since that is often on a remote machine).
