Hoborg was built in the first place by Shualdon to be an IRC meetings bot for the Israeli LoCo team (#ubuntu-il), but after a while it had become bigger and bigger until it was good enough to become an IRC bot for daily stuff.
On September 2010 it was rewritten by Lielf (Hoborg2) to be modular and to have more functions.
Rewriting of the bot had began right after it in addition to make something faster and more powerful.

Today Hoborg is being used by two Israeli channels, #ubuntu-il and ##linux-il.
