Message web was inspired by my recent switch to using the web versions of Identi.ca and Twitter rather than a standalone desktop client. The idea is to integrate these systems into Ubuntu's menus and notification systems in a similar way as Gwibber might be. The initial push is to get it working with Identi.ca, followed by Twitter, and I'm hoping to also hoping to add support for Google Voice text messages.
