Developers of scientific software usually don't have time nor the proper skills to design portable and flexible build systems. Provided with a minimum of information, Izumi analyzes the source code and produces a standard-compliant and versatible build system. It saves the developers from having to learn how to use complex utilities such as the Autotools, letting them focus on the source code instead.
Originating from the scientific community, Izumi has originally been designed to handle Fortran 90 source code. It can be easily extended to other languages, thanks to its modular design. Its main objective is to produce Autotools-compliant build systems, but all information can be made available at any stage for any purpose.
Associated to SCREECH, Izumi is a solution of choice for the busy scientific developers.
