This is a kernel build script that aims to pull the utmost bleeding-edge kernel from Linus Torvalds's own Git tree and build it on Debian and Ubuntu-based systems while also allowing you to customize the kernel being built. It also automatically installs dependencies needed to build the kernel and modules via APT.

I'm surprised that other projects were considered similar to this. This project is a shell script that automatically checks out, configures, and builds the kernel, modules, and initrd, updating GRUB at the end to recognize the new kernel. It has nothing to do with the package manager, custom Live CDs, or Ubiquity.
