Musec is a music player daemon and command line interface for people who like using the filesystem to organize things. It has some useful features such as a somewhat intelligent auto-DJ (play high-rated songs more often than low-rated songs), tags/labels, crossfading (for supported audio formats), external player support (for any file type), and whole-album mode. It is somewhat similar to MPD, but with a more flexible design and better compatibility with standard shell tools. It does not need to index your entire collection before playing, and focuses on spontaneous playback instead of playlists.
