Release notes:

A new version of the NicNames software (0.4) is available, to update version r174. Updating installations may be updated.

Installation instructions, including upgrading, are in the enclosed README file and one of the attached documents.

This update includes the following major changes:

- Now supports OAI-PMH harvesting protocol in addition to native API. View ?a=oaipmh for details.
- Deletions are now returned in all harvests.

Minor changes:

- Some other deletions fixes.
- Minor forwards-compatible fix to XML schema.
- Minor improvements to debugging code.
- Releases now given version numbers (this is 0.4).

A new version of the NicNames software (r174) is available, to update version r173. Please update existing installations.

Installation instructions, including upgrading, are in the enclosed README file and one of the attached documents.

This update fixes a single bug:

- Fixes a bug exporting to XML for any text that contains symbols such as '&'.

Known issues:

- Modifying/replacing an existing record using the API is very powerful and it is possible to overwrite another identity's data or insert co-author links to identities which don't exist. The API (at least, the part which can actually modify data) should be used carefully. In future, more checks should be in place to help guard against unwanted accidents.

Please report problems as you see them.

A new version of the NicNames software (r173) is available, to update version r151. Please update existing installations.

Installation instructions, including upgrading, are in the enclosed README file and one of the attached documents.

Notable updates include:

- There is now a separate public and private interface. The private one is within the subdirectory admin/. When installing this version, HTTP authentication should be applied to the admin/ directory rather than the root one. This is documented in the install instructions, but needs to be considered during this upgrade too.

Attached is a new version of the NicNames software (r151), to update version r142 which is the previous one I sent around.

Installation instructions, including upgrading, are in the enclosed README file.

Notable updates include:

- This is the first revision in which all the tabs of the interface are now implemented and working, therefore the product no longer looks "unfinished". In particular, the "Records needing attention" tab is now implemented, and the "Import" tab has been re-organised so that only import formats that are actually installed are shown.

- When a set of search results is more than 20, the results span more than one page. It is now possible to get to subsequent result pages using the page links at the bottom of the results. Interface for this has been improv...

Attached is a new version of the NicNames software.

Installation instructions, including upgrading, are in the enclosed README file.

Notable updates include:

- Supports NicNames XML as an import format. This is NicNames' native document format, making it possible to import from other NicNames installations or to build new importers by translating them into this format. See the resources/import directory for the schema definition and a sample document. These have also been included in appendix E of the functional requirements (note that the schema has been updated recently).

- Supports UNSW staff extract format in XML.
