Nutshell is a lightweight, elegant and easy to use modern file manager.
Nutshell aims to be the easiest and fastest file manager available for Linux desktops. Built on top of GTK3, provides elegant and intuitive interface.
To maximize performance, Nutshell doesn't use GtkBuilder, instead everything is written by code. It uses icon caches by default, so switching directories is blazingly fast.
To make Nutshell easy for new users, it looks very similiar to Nautilus.
Before the first alpha release Nutshell will support:
- GIO support ftp FTP/SFTP protocols
- Basic file management - copying, deleting, moving, renaming files
- GStreamer previews for video files, Cairo previews for image files
- Multiple windows opened in single process space
- Icon caching
- Bookmarks
