This is a project to create a simple, extensible, document management system which integrates into Samba. This is not a heavyweight system, but rather a simple foundation that connects Samba with a relational database, from which developers can add document metadata as desired.
The goal is the build a simple architecture to connect metadata in a relational database (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Firebird, SQLite, etc) to the files in a Samba share. From this foundation, developers can create custom applications (Web, Qt, Gtk, etc.) that access/manage that data (remote file access, virtual folders, bulk loading, etc). The intent is to be simple and lightweight -- a framework from which to build more sophisticated applications.
