Openjardin is a software for the management of a permaculture oriented garden.
It allows interactive management of crop plots, with annual planning and crop rotation over 5 years.
It is a free software GNU gpl 3.0 under Linux.

It is intended for the management of the crops of a garden from a plan with the representation of plots, crop sheets, a table of annual planning per plot, and a table of crop rotations out of 5 years for each plot with visualization of previous cultures colored according to the botanical family.
It also includes the plant variety sheets used for crops, the most common species and plant families; all these sheets can be completed and modified.

It is based on the use of a "sqlite" database that includes the following tables:
- table cultures
- table varieties of plants (to be filled by you according to the varieties you use)
- Botanical species table (pre-filled with the most common species but can be completed)
- Botanical family table (pre-filled with the most common families but can be completed)
- tables observations and tasks (pre-filled but can be completed)

An xml file is used to save the configuration of the objects of the parcel plan and the associated database (for example, a garden_example file, xml is included in the working directory as an example, it includes a wallpaper and plots.)

The front page has a wallpaper (png file - jpg - bmp etc ..) usually a graphic representation of the garden (aerial photos or plan) on which we place the following objects: parcels, equipment and isolated plantations .
A grid is superimposed on the wallpaper.

General principles of software use

When starting a project you must first define the wallpaper by opening the image file that represents the garden, then change to edit mode and set up the different parcels, plantations and equipment, Exit the edit mode then clicker on the parcel area (the parcel references are written in the area above the map) and then click on the "display culture sheet" button to create a new crop. (see details in the following pages), the crop data appear in the planning and rotation pages.
In the planning page it is possible to change the start date of the crop and its duration directly from the colored area that represents the crop, after validation the new dates and the duration are modified in the crop sheet.
