Bug Description

As an upstream maintainer downloading translations done to my project in Ubuntu, I often want to download just those languages that have changed; there's no point in me downloading a bunch of PO files that are identical to the ones in my package.

The "Download translations" page (e.g. https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+sources/man-db/+pots/man-db/+export) should offer some way to get all the changed languages rather than making the maintainer manually select each of the languages that the previous page said had changed.

OMG. This was reported on 2005. Is there any deadline date?

We have an alternative solution today for projects: use export to a bzr branch, and it will commit only translations that have changed since the last commit. So, when you re-pull from that branch, you'll download only the changes, and you can use bzr features to see which ones have changed. As such, I don't see much benefit in working on this feature, unless there's someone interested in taking it on themselves.

If you are interested in translations in Ubuntu source packages, you'll have to wait a little bit longer before that's available as well, which is why I am keeping this bug open (or I would have just closed it as 'won't fix').

Oh, and if anyone feels really strongly about it and they want to discuss design and work on the code (remember, Launchpad is open source), I might be convinced to let it in for projects as well.

To me this reads exactly like the "partial PO export" feature that was implemented quite a while ago.

Henning, I don't see the facility you're referring to. Sure, I can explicitly choose only certain languages to download. But the original bug was for Launchpad to offer me a choice where it automatically selects only those languages that have changed translations in Launchpad - that does not appear to be present.

Reopening as I think the closure was mistaken, as explained. If I'm wrong, could you give me a URL pointer to the facility I'm missing?

Hi Colin, I've rephrased the bug to try and capture the essence a little more clearly, could you confirm I haven't totally mangled your intent? Thanks.
