If a web browser allowed <script type="application/ruby">, Scooter is the API to use. Allows css_query, xpath_query, and jquery to find elements, and has great event handling. Based on the models of the W3C, if not the methods.

Unfortunately for Ruby folks, browsers aren't likely to allow scriptability for some time, so this project is working on using Scooter with GUI toolkits such as FXRuby, GTK, and wxWidgets. This process is tricky because they can only implement a subset of the full specification. Read more on our home page.
