At the moment I still feel that we should be forwarding to rsyslog, and support native rsyslog / remote rsyslog.
My actual thought is to move to rsyslog-ng in the future, and use a journald plugin of thereof, which can reliable pull-in journald logs, instead of journald continiously pushing them into rsyslog.
Alas that has not been done, and rsyslog-ng is even bigger beast.
