I've added "vga=0x0369" to the argument list in GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT, nevertheless I do get the warning that it is deprecated. This is also what is said elsewhere on the internet, Grub2 has deprecated this boot option.
I'll try the GRUB_GFXMODE option to see what it does.
