Bug Description
Binary package hint: thunar
In Xubuntu (Herd 2), there is no idication of long file operaton progress (copying, archive extraction, etc.) This is a usability problem especially on slower systems. The user may be tempted to initiate a duplicate operation because there is no obvious sign of progress, leading to a potential resource overload. I can't recall if this existed in previous versions of Xubuntu since I use KDE/Gnome on my systems and only use XFCE on older systems for some of my customers.

I can see Thunar displays the progress for copying in recent Feisty. The lack of progress bar when unpacking is a known bug of xarchiver -- the bar is displayed if using file roller as the archive manager.
