A system that uses an Android app to provide speech input capabilities for Ubuntu desktops.
This system requires WiFi to enable reliable operation.
The Android app functions as a microphone that hears what the users say, and relays the recognised words over WiFi to a Ubuntu desktop on the same network as the Android device, and the Ubuntu program types the words into the currently focused text area.
This project has 2 parts.
Part 1 is the software that runs on Ubuntu Desktop and performs the actual task of entering recognised words from the Android App.
Part 2 is the Android app that performs the actual speech recognition and relays recognised words.
The goal of this system is to be developed into another project that will focus on voice commanding.
The Android app can be downloaded in Google Play by simply searching for "Ubuntu speech input".
