I'm the lead software developer for Ireland's largest mailing house. We run Ubuntu on some of our servers and workstations. One of my goals within Launchpad is to help Ubuntu develop into a package that is acceptable in the workplace and in the home.

My focus is pushing for developers to make the corporate email experience better in Ubuntu. Most companies are already equipped with Exchange servers, so it's important to have a user friendly email client that works well with those existing networks. In most offices in the UK the users have Excel, a web browser and a good email client that can communicate with the server. I believe we have good spreadsheet alternatives with Open/Libre Office Calc and good browsers with Firefox/Chrome but I feel that we are currently lacking an professional grade email client that works with the existing Exchange servers. Evolution works the best, but does it really match up to Microsoft Outlook?
