Hello. I am into computer and Internet security. I also hunt down, dissect, and distribute new malware samples to AV vendors who don't detect it at time of finding. I install Ubuntu, Kubuntu, or Edubuntu onto every machine I come in contact with, or try to. When I recover a Windows machine from a nasty infection or data loss scenario I suggest installing Linux as a viable and safe alternative to Windows. Most everyone I have installed Linux for is very happy with the ease of use as well as the added security. My goal is to Ubuntu every computer of every friend, family member, and client I know. One friend of mine had a USB dongle he needed to retrieve photos from and give to his daughter inlaw. His Windows ME machine wouldn't see it neither would his son's XP machine. Hmmmm, we went to plug it in my girlfriend's computer and he asked me "Is this Windows XP?" The really cool look made him wonder. I informed him it is Ubuntu Linux and told him just put the USB stick in. He looked at me crazy but did it. Lo and behold Ubuntu saw the stick and opened the file browser straight away. He asked "Where's the Windows Explorer like thing?" I told him "You're looking at it, that's your USB stick." He loved the ease of working with the photos and he was able to do everything he wanted with no hitch. Before he left I gave him a copy of Ubuntu to bring home and one for his son. He's sort of a computer nerd such as myself so I know he's been having fun with Linux.
