I have been recording audio books since 2005. www.storyspieler.com
With the latest unwanted additions from MS to Windows and MSN that have no on/off controls I decided to get involved with Linux. The immediate benefit of dual booting using Ubuntu was that 20 other programs didn't get loaded at the same time and steal cycle time. The other was that Ubuntu controlled the wi-fi circuit just fine whereas MS Windows and Intel drivers always duked it out until the connection was lost. This was happening every time I used the computer. I was very happy to move my data files over to Kexi. The Open Office database wasn't working right. I haven't tried it recently. The word processor is just fine. I downloaded Open Office for Windows and put it on my desk top computer so I can work with the files from my lap top. I'm picking through such Linux software as I can find to handle the things I do. I would like to leave MS behind forever.
