Bug Description

If you chose Norwegian you get Danish. The texts are all in Danish, and you
cannot chose the Norwegian keymap (this keymap issue has been reported earlier
by somebody else though)

Which messages are in Danish? Is this before the first reboot?

The language gets set to Danish instead of Norwegian. The whole os is in Danish
if you chose norwegian

da is set as a very low-priority fallback language, but beyond that I have no
idea what might be causing this. What CD did you use to perform the installation?

Can you please send the contents of /etc/environment? Thanks.

Okay, this has been bugging me a while too. This is off a pretty fresh hoary
install where nothing language-wise has been altered since installation. During
installation I chose nb_NO (norwegian bokmål) as my language.

Trouble is, and I guess this is what the reporter is experiencing too - not all
programs are entirely translated to norwegian, and this is ofcourse our own
fault. Having danish and swedish as fallback languages for norwegian, though, is
*a lot* more confusing than using plain british english. The languages may be
related (norwegian being a revised form of danish), but more often than not, the
language constructs deviate enough to make a mixed-language desktop very
confusing to use.

My proposal to fix this issue is simply dropping danish and swedish as fallbacks
for norwegian, while keeping the current en_GB:en fallbacks.

My /etc/environment:

LANGUAGE="nb_NO:nb:no_NO:no:nn_NO:nn:da:sv:en_GB:en"

LANG=no_NO.UTF-8

I second the motion to drop fallbacks for Norwegian, it looks silly and is by far one of the most common things people pick on.
