Bug Description

Binary package hint: powermanagement-interface

gdm-signal depends on an old version of glibc

# ldd /usr/bin/gdm-signal
/usr/bin/gdm-signal: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.4' not found (required by /usr/bin/gdm-signal)

Actually that looks more like it's too new (glibc keeps old symbol versions around; even current jaunty's glibc still supports GLIBC_2.4 symbols). Ubuntu 6.06 only had glibc 2.3, so I suspect you were trying to install a newer powermanagement-interface there. This was possible because powermanagement-interface didn't generate proper shared library dependencies for itself, so I'll fix that.

This bug was fixed in the package powermanagement-interface - 0.3.19

---------------
powermanagement-interface (0.3.19) jaunty; urgency=low

  * Use pmi.stub for any architecture not explicitly listed, not just hppa
    and sparc. (Conditional syntax used requires make >= 3.80+3.81.b3.)
  * Strip gdm-signal binary.
  * Generate shared library dependencies for gdm-signal so that it can't be
    installed on a system with an unsuitable libc (LP: #182651).
  * Depend on ucf (LP: #149678).
  * Don't segfault if argument parsing fails (LP: #45680).
  * Make gdm-signal/Makefile quieter on clean.
