Image rotation does not work in Gpaint

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gpaint

Scenario

1. draw a new paint
2. click "image", then "rotate right"---> image corrupted
3. click "image", then " rotate left" --> no effect

Which version of gpaint is this?

On hardy neither rotate left nor rotate right seem to have any effect. I don't get a corrupted image.

gpaint seems to have written this to my console:

** (gpaint:7055): WARNING **: TODO: cannot rotate if width is less than height.

Creating a new image with width greater than height gives the same error.

Considering that width < height is the default this is really poor.

Confirming that image rotation doesn't work.

If I paste in a photograph left rotate seems to corrupt the image. It was drawings I made in gpaint that didn't seem to change.

Here's a patch to fix this issue. I'm including this in the (not uploaded yet) 0.3.3-2 revision of the package in Debian.
