 PATH=(custom, user)

bubbles should be of POPUP window type. Normal toplevel sounds wierd to me.

attaching patch against latest ~ubuntu-desktop branch; ~ubuntu-desktop branch looks a bit odd and I am not sure if i should just commit there.

Firefox and OpenOffice frequently steal focus to toplevel windows!!
(such as avant-window-navigator)

This bug was fixed in the package notify-osd - 0.8-0ubuntu3

---------------
notify-osd (0.8-0ubuntu3) jaunty; urgency=low

  * data/org.freedesktop.Notifications.service.in: Run
    notification-daemon for stracciatella-session.
  * Merge bug fixes from trunk:
    - Ensure that window is always on top. Thanks Alexander Sack for
      the patch! (LP: #331115)
    - change window-title to be picked up by window-match-rules of
      compiz-plugins and not collide with the old notification-daemon
    - egg/egg-fixed.c: Fix unused symbol on arm, which causes build
      failure due to -Werror.

I'm 're-opening' this report for xfce4-notifyd, as that one doesn't show the notifications on top as it should with notify-osd. Compiz-Fusion rules don't work on it (add xfce4-notifyd to put it as always on top).

Version of Xfce4-notifyd: 0.1.0-0ubuntu1, Jaunty. Also happens with Karmic.

I'm also having this in Lucid, you can test with terminal:
terminal in window mode:
notify-send -u normal 'Hi' 'Hello' -> shows properly
notify-send -u critical 'Hi' 'Hello' -> shows properly

terminal in fullscreen mode:
notify-send -u normal 'Hi' 'Hello' -> doesn't show
notify-send -u critical 'Hi' 'Hello' -> shows properly

I don't know if it's intentional, but for me it's a bug.
