Bug Description

Binary package hint: ircd-hybrid

Version: 1:7.2.2.dfsg.2-3

ircd-hybrid stores a PID file in /var/run/ircd/ircd-hybrid.pid. The package contains the directory /var/run/ircd. However on ubuntu /var/run is a tmpfs and so this directory is lost at the next reboot. Consequently it becomes impossible to stop or reload the ircd using the usual init mechanism.

This will apply to any other package in ubuntu with files in /var/run too. A global check would be sensible.

This bug was fixed in the package ircd-hybrid - 1:7.2.2.dfsg.2-6ubuntu1

---------------
ircd-hybrid (1:7.2.2.dfsg.2-6ubuntu1) jaunty; urgency=low

  * Create /var/run/ircd on start/restart rather than relying on the
directory shipped in the package, since /var/run may be a tmpfs
    (LP: #337715).
