Bug Description

software-store trunk r179, trunk r181, 0.3.2, 0.3.4, Ubuntu Karmic

The "In Progress" section sometimes appears completely empty while installing software.

I haven't yet found reliable steps to reproduce the problem.

When this happens, nothing is printed in the terminal.

Closing and reopening the Store shows the still-in-progress task in the "In Progress" section.

I noticed that the sometimes the text says "Pending" and sometimes "In progress". Usually when there is only one thing to install it says Pending and when there are more things to install it says "In progress".
But sometimes it happens that only one thing is about to install and the text says "in progress"... that is when I can observe this bug. Did anyone else notice this too? I don't know how to trigger this.

Steps to reproduce is:
1: Select to install an app
2: while install is "In progress" , now switch to the "In progress" section
3: once the install is completed , the section "In progress" disappears or sometime stays visible and the right side of the window is completely empty.
[the presence or non-existence of the "In progress" section in the left pane depends at the time of selecting it in the left pane ,
 - if the pane is selected at almost the same time the install is being completed , the section is visible ,
 - if the section is selected earlier, then the section will disappear but the right side will be empty ]

This I believe is due to the "In progress" section being a transient one ,
the ideal behavior would be to automatically switch to the last installed/remove app.

If the behavior is set to automatically switch view , then this problem *might* not arise.

mac_v, the spec already says: "The “In Progress” section should be visible only when items are being installed or removed, or when the last installation or removal finished less than two seconds ago. If the section disappears while being displayed, the Store should return to the section that was previously being displayed."

But this bug report is about a separate problem: the section appears empty even while things are installing.
