Thanks for the bug report. Does this problem still exist in Dapper or Edgy?

Your printer is not very well supported. The only way to get it working are closed-source drivers provided on Samsung's web site (or perhaps also included on the printer's driver CDs). This driver cannot be included in most distros due to copyright reasons. It also needs often special tricks to really work with the desired distribution. See

I am currently working with standardization of printer driver interfaces in LSB 3.2 and automatic driver download from the internet. This should make live easier in such situations. See

Driver from samsung site does not work for me. After searching online,
this driver works for sum, but not for tohers. Printer was sold a
STAPLES office supply, and should be fairly common. Really needs to be
supported. Thanks.

A new Splix version with support for Samsung's color laser printers was released recently:

I don't know ehether there are already Debian packages (check Debian unstable) of it. Can you compile it from source if needed and test whether it makes your printer working? The author of the driver needs test results from users.

linuxprinting.org is updated now to take into account the new color laser printer support of the SpliX driver.

If you have installed the SliX binary package linked in the previous post for testing, please uninstall it and install this one:

http://www.freestandards.org/~till/tmp/ubuntu/feisty/splix/binary/splix_1.0.1~beta2-0ubuntu1_i386.deb

I have corrected the version number notation (splix_1.0.1+beta2 -> splix_1.0.1~beta2) to make an update to the final 1.0.1 release of SpliX installing smoothly.

The source files are also replaced as I have done some packaging policy fixes.

Till, when you say this bug is Fix Released, does that mean that it's in the Ubuntu repositories?
