Binary package hint: python-distutils-extra

I'm writing a custom app, and want to make use of the apport bug reporting system (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Apport and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Apport/DeveloperHowTo) to allow users to log bugs directly to launchpad using the application.

To do this, I need a way of making the project install apport config files in /etc/apport/crashdb.conf, and apport hooks in /usr/share/apport/package-hooks/<binarypackagename>.py or /usr/share/apport/package-hooks/source_<sourcepackagename>.py. This would be useful to get as part of auto.py.

I've started hacking on a patch for this feature, as it is something one of my projects is waiting on. I'll try and submit it for review in the next little while :)
