Bug Description

I don't think usplash is correctly getting into higher color modes on my core duo laptop, as both the Ubuntu and KUbuntu bootsplashes are horribly disfigured in color.

The Ubuntu logo shows up as whiteish-yellow, while the kubuntu logo shows up as white around the edges of the words, black inside, and with bits of grey fuzz sprinkled around.

Acer Aspire 5672
Core Duo
ATI Radeon x1400
no vga=, etc.

The notebook is a widescreen 1280x800, but the logo does show up without being distorted. The "first" business-card (the lower colored one) showed up correctly, but since the 2nd business-card it stopped working.
