Bug Description

In Dapper, while trying to get build-deps for OpenOffice, which failed, I manually installed each one, until I came to libglitz and libglitz-glx1. Explanatory output:

sudo wajig install libglitz-glx1-dev
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies.
  libglitz-glx1-dev: Depends: libglitz-glx1 (= 0.5.3-0ubuntu2) but 0.5.6-0ubuntu1 is to be installed
Depends: libglitz1-dev (= 0.5.3-0ubuntu2) but 0.5.6-0ubuntu1 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

what is "wajig"? Do you have universe activated for the same sources as main? Could you run "apt-cache policy" and copy that to a comment? same for "apt-cache policy libglitz-glx1-dev" and "apt-cache policy libglitz-glx1"?

Wajig is a tool I have used with Debian for some time, and now use with ubuntu. It is a command line system which wraps dpkg and apt-get, with an interactive mode and simple command switches. Kind of a one stop shop. http://packages.ubuntu.com/dapper/admin/wajig

I do have Universe activated. I ran the policy queries, and did receive some rather awkward results:

$ apt-cache policy libglitz1
libglitz1:
  Installed: 0.5.6-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 0.5.6-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 0.5.6-0ubuntu1 0
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     0.5.3-0ubuntu2 0
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com dapper/main Packages

I see the same for the -dev package also.

I suspect this is borne of having at one stage tried out the early third party comiz repos on this particular install - the repos and those packages have been removed, but there are clearly some lingering issues. So I suggest closing/rejecting the bug.
