Bug Description

I was testing the Edgy RC live CD on a Xeon machine with EMT extensions (hp DL380) and after telling it to shut down from the menus, it goes through the graphical progress and then simple stops at a flashing cursor.
At this point, hitting ctrl-alt-del says it is killing rc6, then shortly after it goes back to a flashing cursor.

It's sitting at the "Press ENTER to reboot" prompt ... I guess that prompt has gone missing somehow?

I have seen this behavior on an HP DL385. I should note that the bootsplash graphics for the 6.10 rc image were the caramel-colored dapper ones during boot.

The system did reboot once I hit return a few times. But I was just given a blank screen with a blinking cursor, and no prompt that I ought to do this.

That would make sense, one of our other sysadmins (Nick) found that if he hit enter a couple of times it did reboot.

The problem where the prompt is displayed but pressing enter has no effect is bug 58503. In the original report, no prompt is displayed; this sounds like a separate (possibly fixed) issue.
