Bug Description

Binary package hint: tsclient

Russian messages in tsclient are shown in wrong (not utf-8, probably in koi8-r) encoding.

Confirmed. Translations in the upstream package are KOI8-R encoded, and msgconv -t UTF-8 po/ru.po looks just fine. Rosetta's file has proper cyrillic letters, but they are totally scrambled and do not make any sense at all. This only seems to affect the imported bits from upstream, some strings (which were translated in Rosetta proper) are ok.

This is not really a bug in Rosetta, but in the way someone translated this package.

Still, this needs to be fixed in Rosetta. Most of the strings on

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/edgy/+source/tsclient/+pots/tsclient/ru/+translate

must be wiped and reimported from the upstream versino.

Since Rosetta does not yet export translations for Feisty, I keep the Feisty bug open. However, it should happen really soon now.

Feisty finally got language packs yesterday, so this should now work in Feisty as well.
