@Joachim,

Thank you for introducing Ubuntu changes in Debian. I would like to explain here:
- you can add our changes in debian/changelog to yours, but it's not necessary and you don't need to keep all Merges entry;
- we change Debian Maintainer Field only if we are adding changes in Ubuntu;
- for us the most important are Ubuntu-specific patches. if you can support them for us, we don't need other changes.

Best regards,
Artur

The support is already inside of 23.1-1 which work with the file
debian/patches/ubuntu.series and support in debuild.

Here you can find the git repository:
http://git.debian.org/?p=lilo/debian.git

This package (first try) is already on mentors.debian.net and
there is a threat with an review on
http://lists.debian.org/debian-mentors/2011/01/msg00361.html

I have also get an review from Openwall maintainer with some
patches, which still must be verified.

I will update this 23.1-1 package because of the hints in reviews
in the next days and then it should be ready for Debian and Ubuntu.

Have a nice day.

Joachim,

When we could expect upload lilo 1:23.1-1 to Debian? Maybe you could do it in experimental?

Thanks and regards,

My sponsor will do the upload after Squeeze is released. The date for this
release is set to the first February weekend:

Because of this short time to release I think the way via experimental
is not needed.

Joachim, Debian 6.0 has been released. What about upload lilo 23 to unstable?

I still wait to Niels Thykier as sponsor. He wanted to finish his review in
the next days. After this step I hope he will upload the package to Debian.

As I wrote in comment 9, I'm concerned about time of upload to unstable.

Colin, what do you think about upload it from Debian mentors with -0ubuntu1 version?

We're well after our Debian import freeze for this cycle. I'm not particularly keen on importing a significant new upstream version in advance of a Debian upload unless there's a compelling reason to do so; can it not wait for natty+1, when we would merge it in the normal course of events?

Artur, I was going to sponsor your original merge from the top of this bug instead, but the patches you attached were for linux86, not lilo. Could you please attach the correct patches?

We decided to keep lilo 22.8 in natty and let 23.1 to grow up in Debian and wait for bugfixes. We are a few days before Feature Freeze and we would not to break archive by fresh revisions. We could not handle bug reports against new lilo properly. Probably lilo 23.1 will be synced in natty+1.

Colin, I attached correct debdiffs. Would you like to sponsor it or shall I do ask someone else free?
