THis issue is still not fixed. I use newest indicator-sound and gnome-sound-recorder. But if i start recording indicator do not show microphone level.

I took a look to the source. You added mdeia.role=production check to the pm_sink_input_info_callback. Gnome-sound-recorder use only source, so i think it should be in pm_source_info_callback

I don't think I'm going to get this in for Natty. I won't release it today anyhow. If Seb agrees I can distro patch next week. But there is a little bit more involved to get this working through the source-ouput callback and as a result I would be reluctant to rush this out today without properly testing it.
Will keep this on my radar though and make sure we accommodate this next cycle . The first place to start is to ensure the spec on the wiki properly describes what it would like from the feature. When I was developing this the spec was clearly only concerned with VOIP calls hence why I used the sink input callback. I will talk to MPT to make sure the spec covers all desired angles.

Okay work is done on that branch. The one side effect I can see is that the slider won't appear until the call starts in the voip use-case. When before I was monitoring the sink input the slider appeared at the start of a skype call (while the ringing could be heard - audio output => sink input), now it won't appear until the call actually begins (audio input => source output).
I doubt this will make Natty though.

Reminder to self, mute blocking state is broken now, branch needs to cache both sink input index and source output index to cater for both. Which I think is a good idea because then you could pop up the slider on the appearance of a relevant sink input index or a source output index making the usability more fluid.
