Bug Description

software-center 3.1.24, Ubuntu 11.04

In Software center reviews the error for trying to send a second review on a single application is cut short. Screenshot: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/67096653/rnr-error.png

<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareCenter/RatingsAndReviews#submit-progress>: "If the submission is unsuccessful because of an error, then: ... The dialog should lengthen to make room for a mini error icon and error message just above the “Cancel” and “Try Again” buttons."

Arrr, this is my fault. I designed the dialog without enough space to show the errors.

So, where should we show them instead? Should the dialog temporarily get taller to display the error above the Cancel+Publish buttons, perhaps?

Yeah a good possibility. As the users attention will undoubtedly be focused on that section of the screen it would be useful to have it display in or around those buttons.

I've updated the specification to say that any error messages should expand the dialog vertically, rather than trying to fit alongside the buttons. <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareCenter/RatingsAndReviews?action=diff&rev2=84&rev1=82>

My apologies, I was confused between the activity by Matthew Thomas, which I though marked this as not needing be to done anymore(I now realize he was untagging a package), and my attempt at reproducing the bug, which I did not do right.

If I can add a fast comment: please remember the users on little laptop which have just 600 pixel vertically. Please do not follow "thunderbird way" (-> forcing you to use alt+mouse to "explore" the windows, and sometime even that does not work). Provide a scrollbar if the window do not fit in the vertical space. Thanks!
