Bug Description

Just downloaded the CD since the DVD was giving me a similar issue. Here is the text from the crash:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/ubiquity", line 166, in ?
    main()
  File "/usr/bin/ubiquity", line 161, in main
    install(sys.argv[1])
  File "/usr/bin/ubiquity", line 57, in install
    ret = wizard.run()
  File "/usr/lib/ubiquity/ubiquity/frontend/kde-ui.py", line 338, in run
    self.process_step()
  File "/usr/lib/ubiquity/ubiquity/frontend/kde-ui.py", line 828, in process_step
    self.progress_loop()
  File "/usr/lib/ubiquity/ubiquity/frontend/kde-ui.py", line 602, in progress_loop
    raise RuntimeError, ("Install failed with exit code %s; see "
RuntimeError: Install failed with exit code 139; see /var/log/syslog

I will run a CD check next just to be certain. This seems similar to others however not sure what version they are trying to install. Sorry if I've entered anything wrong. Still pretty new to this stuff.

Completed CD check...this is what the screen said when finished:

Checking integrity, this may take some time
Check finished, 0 checksums failed
Press any key to reboot system

Let me know if you need any other info, glad to help out.

Tried the install again and it worked after a full power down and restart. I'm currently running an update.

Could you please try to reproduce the crash and attach /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman to this bug, by commenting on the bug's web page? Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't send anything else. How I disable the option?

I added the requested files to but #73335. Sorry, still learning the site.

Exit code 139 is a segmentation fault; the only real way that can happen in this particular context is if there's been a problem reading from the CD, rather than being an installer bug as such. Unfortunately a CD integrity check doesn't always seem to catch this. Glad it worked for you after another attempt.
