Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I created a fat16 EFI-Bootloader Partition and ext4 root- and home-partitions. I unchecked "get updates during installation", but it downloaded packages nevertheless, which I then skipped.

I used the 11.04 Beta 64bit downloaded on Friday 15th of April

I've talked to Matthew and we've agreed to make this checkbox into a generic "disable downloading of anything" option, as it's a more important choice than what things are downloaded.

Agreed, I was very confused when I saw things downloading after I had unchecked this option.

The Oneiric installer (as of Alpha 3), still downloads stuff even when "Download updates while installing" is unchecked. I agree with Evan that the checkbox should be about downloading *anything* during install or not. I've had another Ubuntu-naive user complain about the installer downloading stuff when he thought the checkbox told it not to.

The Precise installer is still downloading many packages when "Download updates while installing" is not checked. This makes it impossible to install Alpha1 with todays daily-livecd because of some current dependency problems with the libc6 packages. :\
