Bug Description

Binary package hint: imagemagick

Hi,

I am the debian maintenair of imagemagick. If you want to avoid big pain in our ass please sync with Imagemagick 8:6.6.0.4-3. Further version will have a so bump so problem of transition.

Thanks

Sorry for the rude langage. Transition had break on debian at least python-imagemagick and needed a lot of fixes of old packages. It will be also a pain on unbuntu side. Expect breakage.

- You could drop patch 601824 fixed upstream
- configure patch sould be also drop
- rules patch you could keep (could you explain this modification ?)
- do you think last one will fix build breakage on debian side with parallel build (install depend on check)?

We don't have a configure patch. I don't know what you're looking at. If you mean the control patch, we can't drop that because it's an Ubuntu-specific thing with ufraw-batch being in universe and thus not usable by stuff in main.

I've already dropped the upstream patch, yes.

The rules patch was because the build process blew up on some multi-core boxes due to trying to run the test suite in the middle of a bunch of files being moved around by the install target. Yes, if you're seeing similar breakage on the Debian side then I expect that the same patch would help.

Merged, but is there any reason we shouldn't merge 8:6.6.9.7-4 and go ahead with the transition that's in progress in unstable?

This bug was fixed in the package imagemagick - 8:6.6.0.4-3ubuntu1

---------------
imagemagick (8:6.6.0.4-3ubuntu1) oneiric; urgency=low

  * Resynchronise with Debian (LP: #797595). Remaining changes:
    - Make ufraw-batch (universe) a suggestion instead of a recommendation.
    - Make debian/rules install target depend on check; they cannot reliably
      be run in parallel.
    - Don't set MAKEFLAGS in debian/rules; just pass it to the build.

imagemagick (8:6.6.0.4-3) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Apply fix for reading config files from current directory, found by
    Jakub Wilk <email address hidden> (Closes: #601824).
    Thanks to Andreas Metzler <email address hidden> for the nicely
    formatted patch.

imagemagick (8:6.6.0.4-2.2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Non-maintainer upload.
  * Change Recommends on ufraw to ufraw-batch (closes: #579775).

imagemagick (8:6.6.0.4-2.1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Non-maintainer upload.
  * Re-upload 6.6.0.4 with bumped epoch to revert ABI breakage (closes:
    #587227).
