marked the other bug as duplicate of this one as that was reported against compiz but the crash does not happen if unity is not loaded so its Unity causing something,

Copying my post from bug 824277:

Setting a solid color wallpaper unsets

org.gnome.desktop.background.picture-uri

which causes the crash. Backtrace attached.
