Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20

I am the author of the dvb-usb-cxusb kernel module, which depends on the firmware image:

dvb-usb-bluebird-01.fw

The firmware is available at:

http://linuxtv.org/download/firmware/dvb-usb-bluebird-01.fw

I have been given permission from DViCO to distribute this firmware. There is no limitation on WHO may distribute the firmware -- It is freely distributable, and okay to be packaged into distributions, and / or hosted on public servers for retrieval.

As of now, users that need this firmware have either been downloading it from the above location, or using the script located in the kernel source to retrieve it, issuing the following command:

linux/Documentation/dvb/get_dvb_firmware bluebird

I am pleased to see that other firmware images for dvb-usb device drivers are now being shipped in Feisty. It would be nice if the bluebird firmware image was shipped as well, so that users of these devices can agree that Ubuntu Just Works (tm) ;-)

Please contact me if there are any questions. Thank you.

excuse me?

This is a bug -- the firmware is _NOT_ included in linux-restricted
modules. I am the author of the driver, and I released this firmware to
the public.

Why mark this invalid?!?

OOPS, I apologize -- I misread this mail. I see now what was done.

I'm sorry for the noise :-/

  * nvidia-glx*:
    - When using the nvidia-settings binary for storing
values in xorg.conf it clutters up the file with unneeded settings,
and some are just plain wrong nowadays (the mouse device for
instance). So, don't ship the version included in the drivers, instead
Suggest nvidia-settings -package (again), and fix the issues there.
    - Don't ship nvidia-settings.desktop, only the .png file.
      Nvidia-settings will include the desktop-file.
