Bug Description

Wine1.4 will be in precise. As the new stable release it replaces the aging wine1.2 and wine1.3. It's currently in the new queue.

wine1.4 provides transitional dummy packages for wine1.2 and wine1.3, both of which can be removed.

wine-gecko1.4, meanwhile, replaces wine1.2-gecko and wine1.3-gecko. I used the opportunity to change the naming scheme for wine-gecko, as gecko now has independent versions that can advance on different schedules from Wine (eg soon there will be a gecko1.5 for wine 1.5.x, but also a gecko1.6 for wine 1.5.x, and those might be backported to a future wine 1.4 release too).

The reverse dependencies of wine1.2 and wine1.3 should already be properly depending on thewine virtual package, or at least be satisfied by the dummy packages.

lmms and dssi-vst should get a small dependencies update to depend on virtual wine (>= 1.4), but other than that I don't see any issues.

affects: ubuntu → lmms (Ubuntu)

Actually nevermind, it appears that dpkg currently ignores versioned virtual dependencies. Nevertheless, depending on wine1.4 | wine instead of their current dependencies list will be an improvement.

Wine1.4 is in Precise now, but the binaries are being held back until wine1.3 and wine1.2 are removed.

Actually there's also a wine binary metapackage provided by wine1.2. I'll move that metapackage to the wine1.4 package.

This bug was fixed in the package lmms - 0.4.10-2ubuntu1

---------------
lmms (0.4.10-2ubuntu1) precise; urgency=low

  * debian/control:
    - Build with wine1.4-dev (LP: #925127)
    - Remove manual wine dependency, obtain it via dh_shlibdeps
    - Remove wine and gcc-multilib build dependencies on amd64
(package does not build with 64-bit only wine)
  * Merge from debian unstable. Remaining changes:
    - Build with wine1.4-dev instead of libwine-dev
    - Remove manual wine dependency, obtain it via dh_shlibdeps
    - Remove wine and gcc-multilib build dependencies on amd64

hi,

The package lmms-vst had the same problem.
"Dependencies with wine1.2".

I post here because it's the same problem and affects the same application, lmms.

Thanks for a response !
