Bug Description

Binary package hint: anacron

The anacrontab manual page contains the following line, towards the end, where it attempts to describe the line continuation character:

You can continue a line onto the next line by ending it with a ’´.

The actual character to be used for line continuation is missing, and the second quote mark is actually an acute accent.

(applies to version shipped with Ubuntu 6.10)

The man page source anacrontab.5.gz contains:
You can continue a line onto the next line by ending it with a '\'.
But it should be a double slash:
You can continue a line onto the next line by ending it with a '\\'.

Changed in anacron:
status: Unconfirmed → Confirmed

Thanks for the debdiff. This is a bug in the Debian package, so please file a bug in Debian as well if you can.

Actually it should be \e not \\. \\ has weird semantics and you should avoid it unless you know what you're doing. See 'info groff', the "Character Translations" node.

Sponsored, with the correction I mentioned and with conventional upper-case for LP: in the changelog.
