Looking at the Hypervisor section of the documentation, http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/openstack-compute/admin/content/selecting-a-hypervisor.html, it states

"You cannot configure more than one virtualization type on the compute nodes, so the hypervisor selection is for the entire installation."

and

With the ImagePropertiesFilter, you can set properties on your
images to ensure the scheduler places instances based off those images
on correct compute nodes. E.g.

glance image-update --property architecture=x86_64 --property
hypervisor_type=xen --property vm_mode=xen <img>

    Add a note about running with multiple hypervisors

    fixes bug 1048879

    As in the bug report, from Folsom onwards, nova supports using
    multiple hypervisors. This patch removes the old contradictory text
    and places links to the relevant scheduling filters that are needed
    for this to work.
